sup Xavier... those MC's you named happen to be some of my favorite rappers as well... the reason i like them is because they rap intelligently and are versatile on the mic... their lyrics actually make you think when u hear them, and they're capable of conveying deeper messages thru their lyrics....also, they've had some amazing production to help them out... where as rappers like 50 Cent are shallow, unintelligent, and flat out unoriginal with their delivery and their lyrical content
one rapper you didn't name but that i would put on the same level as Mos Def/Guru/Q-tip is Black Thought from The Roots.. definetely check out The Roots' first 3 albums, Illadelph Halflife, Do You Want More, and Things Fall Apart... also check out Talib Kweli who was in Black Starr w/ Mos Def... Common Sense or Common is also another one to check out... he's coming out with a new album in late May produced by Jae Dilla (of Slum Village) & Kanye West...
one of the things i love the most about The Chappelle Show is that his musical guests are always ill... he's had Mos Def, Talib, Common on the show a bunch of times... |
