I know most of you will disagree with me, but what the fuck... I've been around drugs ever since coming to North America. It's not like it's hard to get them in Europe (some places easier than others), but I haven't had a chance to experience different things before coming here. Hip-hop was the thing here all along. Although I loved the music all along, I could never fit in with the crowd. I didn't have big enough jeans or that special brand name and I never did drugs. I'll exclude alcohol because it's legal to an extent. To this day the only drugs ever to enter my body are: tea, coffee, prescription drugs and alcohol. All of which I try to minimize. Alcohol became one of those things you get to smell every often, drink a bit monthly, and get loaded once a year. An extra day a week would help a lot; squeeze all those fun things at the end of each week. Anyways… other than few of my friends almost every other hip-hop head smokes weed or other. Is that really true? _________________ myspace.com/assemblylinerecords Assembly Line Records presents... The Committee, H-Bomb & Vicious Visions |

I certainly don't fit that stereotype either, and maybe we'll find out there's more of us than we thought... I've listened to hiphop since I was 9 years old when I picked up my first Run DMC and Fat Boys albums. I'm 27 now, so that's about 18 years I've been listening to hiphop and rap, and I'd still put myself in the same category as you. I like to start my mornings with a cup of coffee and I'll have a few beers or gin & tonics when I go out on the weekends on occasion, but other than that I am and always have been drug free. I listen to hiphop but I don't smoke blunts. I listen to drum n bass but I don't use speed. I listen to trance but I don't take E or pop pills. So yes, it is actually possible to enjoy a certain kind of music without conforming to the stereotypical lifestyle and habits asociated with it. _________________

I feel your pain man. Being a DJ myself, not hip-hop, but trance-techno....every one who does not know me personally thinks i am some kind of raving e-tard, which is absolutely not the case.
I just love the music. _________________ Altar Of Sound - www.altarofsound.com

So far 11 reviews and 2 comments one review being mine, not counting this post...
Say... about 20% of all hip-hop listeners are drug free? Hahaha…
It's hard to draw any numbers, yet, I want that number to be a mystery... Nobody wants to be a statistic. Who cares what I do or don't do...? Whatever makes a person happy, right? I don't know if I'm contradicting myself with these statements but I just wanted some mental support. It’s hard though. I don’t blame some people for turning to drugs. Shit for some that’s the only thing they can turn to; no family, no friends, only empty unpromising days each morning they wake up. I’m fortunate to have things others don’t have. I never wanted to disappoint my parents by doing such things to my body and my mind, although they have accused me numerous times. I think only few of my friends really know how anti-drug I am. I won’t drive them if any of them is high. I won’t even go out with them if I know they plan to blaze that night. Those are just some of my rules and my friends respect those. To an extent I think me being drug-free also influenced others around me not to go that way. Just like peer pressure works against you, it can also work for you. That vice-versa effect or whatever it’s called.

Messin' around with all those chemical rushes
When natural highs come a whole lot cheaper” – Roots Manuva
